Holiday Tips - Opening your mind to traveling?!

Hola!

Once again a very very delayed post but this last week I've had has been mental, ant infestations are the least of the issues I've had. Many apologies, I can only hope you will accept :).

These tips are different to my organisational ones. I did have a whats in my hand luggage post planned, but it occurred to me how hard I found adjusting to seeing new things in India and the idea of travelling. Something that was a massive factor in my experience was that I get very homesick.

The first tip I could give anyone is don't go into a 3rd world country and think your prepared for what your going to see. I thought I'd be fine I was so excited for this amazing experience however we managed 1 day before I wanted to book a flight home! We landed on a Friday and it took me until Monday to relax and actually want to be there, after that I didn't want to come home.

Look beyond the poverty, look at the smiles on there faces they are happy and most of them are happier than most of us!

Don't be scared of what your going to see, it will be one of the best experiences and lessons you will ever learn in your life.

Do what the locals do! Don't be a tourist, by all means ride an elephant and do the once in a life time things! But don't be scared to explore!

Don't be ignorant, ask them about there lives, buy the children a chocolate bar or a can of pop, they will love you to bits for it and appreciate it more than money!

Don't be naive, yes they are poor but some of them are sneaky and will abuse good nature.

Take extra shampoo and clothes you don't mind leaving and give them to the locals and they will really appreciate it! I gave a woman a bottle of herbal essences shampoo and she acted as if I'd given her £1000. The feeling you have helped will make you feel amazing!

I have only spent 2 weeks in Goa, India however I can not wait to travel some more I want to see everything and everywhere!

Let me know if you'd like to here more about my trip to India :)

Much Love,
Daisy
